Tire Pressure Monitoring System
So the other day I was fortunate to find a shiny new wood screw in my rear tire of my 05 SLE. the tire was flat and so I pumped it up and the monitor says check tire pressure and stays on. I ran my Snap on scanner on the OBD2 and it says it has a open circuit on the sensor. I was looking on the net about replacing the TPMS sensor in the rim, but i'm not able to find a listing for it. these are the factory 17 inch rims. Also it said it had a right front wheel that was low but it turned out it was the left rear wheel that went to crap. soooo my question is, does anyone have a part number for the sensor? and how do i reset the wheels so i know the rotation of the rims is correct? is there a learn if i rotate the tires?

I don't believe the Bonneville used tire pressure sensors. It monitors inconsistencies in wheel speeds, and can tell when one or more tires are getting low, as they rotate at a slightly different speed. The fix is to air all the tires to the proper pressure, and reset the system. The reset procedures should be outlined in the owners manual.

Open circuit on the sensor? Is your ABS light on?

no abs or traction light. but I didn't get a owners manual with the car when i bought it so I got one off ebay. low and behold the manual tells how to reset the DIC and it worked fine. apparently the is no sensor in the wheel like Rjolly87 said. so on that note I thank ya both and it is all fixed up. was good to know as I just bought 2 spare factory 17 inch rims and wont have to worry about the extra costs in swapping them every winter/spring.
On a lower note, that low tire light didnt come on even when the tire was flat. it came one about 1/2 mile down the road. car handled ok and drove ok.. I honestly thought one of the front wheel bearing hubs went bad. it had that sound like a dry front hub bearing. but all in all it is a learned experience and all good now.
