Default Tire Pressure Monitoring System ??

I have a 2008 buick Allure CXL with TPMS on 17" Aluminum rims
Want to install 16" Black universal Rims with snow tires for the winter
Can get the universal rims at Costco for $ 40.00 ea + tires
GM wants $ 285.00 for the recommended Rims !!!!!!!!
So here'* the Question
1. What do I have to do to get my TPMS operational using universal Rims
2. Has anyone used the VDO replacement sensors on a buick
3. If I choose not to install the sensors on the winter rims, what will happen when i re-install the aluminum Rims in the Spring ?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Steve

IIRC the TPMS goes by a sensor mounted with the valve stem on the inside of the rim..So i would suppose if you kept swapping the vavlve stems back and forth it would work.Or get another set IF they will work with what is installed IN your car..If not installed on the winter rims im gonna go ahead and say it will just tell you all your tires are flat..

Yes, the TPMS is in the valve stem, and can be swapped back and forth. It'* a giant pain in the neck. Tire rack and Discount Tire both sell TPMS valve stems I do believe.

If you don't wanna do that, you can just put the regular rubber valve stems in, and the car will tell you that there is a problem with the TPMS. Not a big deal, you can hit one of the info buttons and the message will go away until you start the car the next time.
