While the motor is out. A cam would slide in easily.
Easy mods would be the rockers and pulley, a tune could net you some power, but you'll want to get a custom tune, not a canned tune.

I'd pull one plug wire at a time, with the engine running, until you pull the wire that makes the knock go away (or get much quieter). If none do, there may be a chance that carbon is causing the problem.

Well it is official!! Rod Bearing Numero Uno.
Pulled the pan off today and looked in to find METAL directly below #1and #2. So I pulled #2 first......it showed some wear......but nothing terminal.
Pulled #1 and the mystery was solved as well as any thought of a fix.
I will post up pics shortly incase anyone is interested.
Removal of the oil pan was extremely easy.....I supported the motor with a floor jack and 2x4 (1 ft. long) under the Trans pan. I used a 3/8" universal 1/4" drive with ext to remove the pan bolts that are partially blocked by the mount.
Tonight I will reassemble the bottom and reinstall the pan so I can at least move the car while preparing for a engine change.
What is the torque spec for the bearing caps?...and the pan bolts?
Anyone have a great freshly built motor.....near Chicago?
Chris
