Trunk lid lock fell off
Is it a common problem for the metal to fatigue and the trunk lock actually rip the metal apart? I had to pop rivit a piece of metal under the lock to put it back on the lid.
The existing bracing felt awful flimsy. I use to be a welder and to me it just didn't feel like it was heavy enough for the job it'* supposed to do.
It'* a 98 Bonneville SE
If you haven't looked at yours lately, I would.

trunk lock
My '97'* trunk lock has been broken for about a year now. I used a piece of solid scrap metal, drilled a couple of holes and made a backing plate. It was a little rough getting the nuts on the bolts but once that was done it'* been solid.....

trunk lock
I don't know if it'* specific to the 96-99'* but I can tell you that the sheet metal where the lockset mounts to was what failed. It broke on the drivers side just about where the mounting screw was attached.
