Sunroof problem
I did a search for my sunroof problem and did not find one.
My sunroof is grinding its gears when I go to tilt it or close it from the back position.
Its stops and does not grind gears when I push the open bottton to make it go all the way back. But when I push the botton to close it, it tilts right away after reaching the close position, than it tilts up and then the gears grind, it won't stop.
Do you think the sunroof is shot or is there a stop mechanism that can be replaced.-Toddster

i'm 95% sure you can just replace the motor. I had a similar problem and got a motor from the junkyard for $50. When you take the motor out, inspect it and see if its fixable. I was able to fix mine by simply hammering the end of the timing gear shaft so it would mushroom out and keep the shaft from pullling out. However my moonroof is aftermarket and just a little bit different than yours.

I the same problem with the SSEi. Mine stops halfway closed both directions. It only used to grind when I would open roof(retract into roof). Now it also grinds when it pops up. I just manually stop it when I want to retract or pop up. Maybe we should get together and have a moon roof repair meeting. Make it a MNBC event. I want to remove all interior items, remove roof liner, and remove and clean carpet.
