If you're not sure, just lock the car as usual, with the windows down. Then reach in through the window, unlock it from the _inside_ and open the door (or reach in through the window and try to start the engine). You should get a nice sound-and-light show.

Don't waste more money. If yours is like the '93, it'll start honking and flashing lights if someone tries to start the car without first unlocking it with either a key in the outside lock or via the keyless entry remote. (i.e. You can't just break a window and/or unlock the car from the inside or with a Slim-Jim.) There'* also a switch in the trunk that will detect the lock being either twisted or pulled out. There is no shocker, vibration sensor or glass breakage detector. (I figure there'* not a lot of point to those anyway, 'cause if someone smashes your window to grab something that you went and left in plain view, they'll be gone in seconds anyway.)

Only thing I added to my car was a red LED in the gauge cluster, so potential thieves got a clue that the car _does_ have a Security system. By wiring its positive lead to an always-hot circuit and its negative lead to a switched-hot circuit at the fusebox below the dash, it comes on when I switch off the car.

I found out ours had an alarm much in the same fashon. I locked the doors with the windows down reached in to use the power door unlock and got a surprize. 15 minutes rapidly reading the manual to find out how to turn it off.
