98 SSEi, A/C only comes out on windshield and feet
It only comes out (cold) on the windshield defogger and on your feet, and after about 10min it very slowly starts coming out the vents. After about 30min, it'* coming fully out the vents, but after another 10min or so, the defogger turns on and it'* maximum heat, while the vents are still blowing cold. Also, it likes to randomly turn itself on and off - seems like only when it'* really hot outside. In the winter, I don't have problems with the on/off, just the vents.
The guy I bought the car from had similar problems (he described it as it shuts on and off) and has replaced the climate control computer, so I'm assuming this is the problem.
My question is what all needs to be removed to get to the door which directs air to the vents/windshield/feet. I'm planning on ghetto-rigging it to permanent vents. Winters aren't much here in Houston so I don't really need a defogger.
Has anybody had this problem? How much was it to fix it the right way? How'd you fix it if you didn't do it the right way?
Thanks

All the information for getting most of your vent issues solved is probably in thses threads. You most likely have a collapsed vaccum line on the connector to the programmer. The line cost me .79 for a foot. I replaced the vacuum connector with the new lines and all is good as far as which vents blow where. Default on these systems is full heat from floor and defrost vents.
