Default 92 SE heating/air conditioning

I just purchased this car from a friend and while driveing it home i noticed that the air flow only comes out the defroster even when i have it on the vent setting, And the defroster dosn't work very well at all and i'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so how do i fix it?

does this car have automatic climate control or manual, the problem may lie with your Heating and airconditioning conrtol which ever type it may be, or the "mode valve" in your HVAC system may be stuck, one other possiblity since thise items are controled via vacume, you may have a substantial vacume leak occuring between the conrol panel and actuator, if you need the block diagram of how what is conected where i could scan just that image in and post it hear,

Had that problem with a 93 SSE. The small vacuum hose that connects to the firewall about in the middle had come loose. Slipping it back on took care of the problem.
