Default Exhaust

hi, on my SSE it has one muffler that has one pipe which splits to too,
and i was wondering what the size of my pipe is after the muffler.
i am gonna have one of the pipes run to the other side of the car to have a *fake* dual exhaust. how much do u think it will cost me. i am just going for looks, not performance.
i was wondering about the size because i am gonna have some tips put on it, and i want to know the correct size to get.

thanks,
Devon

I suppose it depends on what you want to do. If you buy a performance muffler, ie Flowmaster, DynoMax or MagnaFlow, the pipe size to the tip is determined by the specs of the muffler itself. I had the option to buy the dual outlet Magnaflow to allow a tip on either side of the car. I would assume the diameter of the outlet pipe is similar to the inlet pipe from the exhuast pipe.

They'd have to cut the moulding on the back of your car to make the tip work. What kinda tip are you looking for this new exhaust job?

ok, i went to the exhaust place today, and they said about $70.00 to cut the pipe and run it to the other side and weld on the tips. I have to cut both sides of the molding since niether side have openings. the tips i already have on the right side, just go under the molding. (the person who had it done, previous owner, had it dont that way)

i'm not sure if i will, its gonna b down the road, im broke right now... but my car doesn't have them cut out because i have a SSE and it have the extra ground effects package. they hid the dual one side exhaust behind the valance. I'm not gonna do a new muffler or anything cuz when i bought the car, it had a complete exhaust job done. all new, from the front of the cat-to the back.

Its a future project. Thats all good. The SSE has a decent exhaust on it. And its new you say? Then you are all set.

Save those pennies.....

yea, i have never seen a 88-91 SSE with dual exhaust, so i want it. i am saving up for a new engine (a 3800 Supercharged L67) to pop in my SSE. its just hard to find one with low miles and a tranny, and the pcm and the wiring harness. i have a lot of dreams. i also need some new chrome wheels. i want the set off the newer bonnies (SSEi).

So you must really like that body style in order to do all that work

Do the exhaust once you have completed all those other modifications....an L67!! wow, good idea. You and the workers at the wreckers yard will be good friends

yes i do! i dont know if i could ever trade my 90 for a 92+ unless it was such a great deal, and i still wouldn't sell my 90. it would go in storage.i would trade mine for a 89 though. i like the mirrors and the grill better. (except the rust problems)
