Default Steering Problem (update)

Update: The noise is getting louder, every day. It seems as if this bonneville is goin down, alot of things are going wrong. Wonder what is next?

Well this just started happening recently. No matter what speed I am going, as long as i am moving, there is like a light grinding in the steering, a feeling like there is sand in the power steering pump or something....makes a little sound too, not too much. Now i'm not completely stupid, i know the power steering is probably wearing out, but I don't want to go and replace all that when it could be something simple. And the steering also seems more resistant. Actually no...more specifically, the steering is ok, its just that when first go to turn the wheel, it REALLY resists, and the engine almost stalls (when is neutral/park) and then its ok until i stop turning and then it resists again and so on and so fourth. PS fluid level is ever so slightly low, but in the normal range. Pls help...

Hmmm, its not an option in the poll, but it could be the power steering pump. Those don't go out to often but thats better than the whole system needing replaced. I'm sure one of the other members will chime in here but it sounds to me like the system is just not getting enough pressure either from a bad pump or what not.
