What's up with Bonnevilles????
I, like most on this club, think the Bonneville is a great car.
Cool styling.
Luxury features.
Good handling.
Bulletproof engine.
Supercharged performance.
....but why don't the ratings reflect that???
Anti Pontiac Pigs.
Every car mag and every survey I've ever seen in the last 5 years don't even have them on the list.
I doesn't bother me too much though because back in 1979 no one liked my Firebird and it had poor ratings but now they all drool over it.
We just have to give it time to mature.

People make fun of me cause i have a grandma car before they get in it. When they're in it, it comes down to what all the switches do, and afterwards they make fun of me. but it'* cause i'm a ricer (where do you think i coined the term rice pipe? my roomate started it lol)
you gotta remember though.. the bonne has had the 3.8 for like 500 years in a row... No magazine is gonna jump all over that when nissan (etc) is updating engines every some odd years etc.. Especially when everything in a bonne is left over parts off of caddies.

i think the Bonne'* have nice styling, they look fast... good wheel/tire packages as well. also great low end.
THe HUD, The motor, and the idea that basically everything is where I expect it to be, and works the way it should. Makes for a car I'm proud to own (even if it is three colors right now)
Bonnevilles reign in the 60'* and mid 70'*, I'm 41 and most of my friends father and even my old man who is 79 remember the power and performance of Tin Indians. The Bonnevilles also have to contend with the other GM large performance machine like the short live RWD Impala SS, and the Cadillac NorthStars, I think GM during the Bonnevilles rebirth wasn't thinking about pushing the H body. GM had to concentrate on the FireBirds, Formual and Trans Am. I still think Bonnevilles are still in the shadows of the "Screaming Chicken". Also the body cladding didn't help, every Pontiac came with it so the body cladding on the Bonneville became boring and common. Only the SuperCharger made it unique.
When the new General Manager from Chrysler came to GM. He said he was going to get rid of body cladding from the Pontiac line. And that'* what he'* doing.
Don't get me wrong I'am a big Pontiac fan had over 5 of them. For the size of the car it handles well and the ride quality is great my car has 114k miles on it and I only have a slight dash squeak when going over bumps. Long live the Chief.
