what was your first car
i thought this would be a fun thread for everyone to reminisce about their first car
if you have a pic post it and tell a small story about it mine was a 1995 geo metro. dad bought 2 of these for $150. not running started swapping parts and got one running. he drove this car from 2006-2007 then gave it to me when i turned 16. it had 195k on it when i got it. it was trashed the list of thing that were junk went on radio inside door handel windows out of track no trunk key so much rust i had less car each time i parked it no headliner no ac rusted out condenser bad starter had to hit it once a week burnt a quart of oil a week exhaust was broken in 7 places exhaust was held in by chiken wire but i loved that car lol.it was painfully slow couldnt get over 65 once with 2 people and a headwind got it to 90 once lol that was scary considering it started shaking at 76 lol, but it was always fun pulling up to camaros and mustang and dropping the clutch roasting the 155/55r13 tires with the little 3 cylinder once i had a guy stay at the light for 20 second just laughing. and with its size it was awesome for drifting in the winter and plowing down every snow drift i could find. i sold it for $375 the guy i sold it to put 17s on it causing the a frame to snap 2 months later lol well here it is my 95 metro http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/113_1329.jpg |
Nice story!
My first car was a 1986 chevy chevette! My dad called it my "little shove it"! It was slow as snot, but god could it roast those rear tires.......and the timing was off so bad that if I put it in 4th gear and Floored it for a second it would backfire so loud people thought I was firing a gun! Made some guy who was riding my ass fly off the road, ducking for his life that way! Loved it!!! Miss that car! Sold it to a neighbor for $500, and he got it impounded.......WHILE STILL IN MY NAME!!! That wasn't a pretty situation! LoL! |
1991 Pontiac Firebird with a 3.1 V6. Back in high school, a lot of people thought I had a V8 in it, but it was just the way I drove it made them think. Beat the motor and tranny pretty bad and held up until the thermostat didn't open. Overheated it and bent a rod and then later throw the rod.
|
first was a 85 escort 2dr 4spd. it was given to me by my mom who had it for years and it was all 80's neon pinked up. i had it for a year before i could get my license so got rid of that bs and cleaned up the engine and started in the field learning how to drive. after i got my license it was used for bumper cars alot and a troop carrier for water wars and other stupid stuff im surprised i never got into serious trouble.

I had a 1976 Chevy van. Or as my mom called it, that darn hotel on wheels. Had a full sized queen bed in back.
|
1975 Chevy Pickup. Wore C20 tags from the factory. Was ordered by a construction company... totally upsized suspension. When you worked on it, you better order C30 parts or you'd be going back. 9.5 x 16.5 wheels ... the typical sneakers took 70psi cold.
Had a 350 with a mild cam and a TH350 to back it up. No one beat that truck off the line.. gears were LOOOWWWWWW and it would piggyback any amount of weight you tossed at it. |
1981 Ford Fairmont station wagon. metallic brown, straight 6. great little car. had a 15" sub in the back.

I got my first job at McDonalds as a senior in high school and the next day I bought my car. I owned it for 7 years before I sold it. Here's a picture of it sailing off into the sunset: Attachment 80316 |
1984 Pontiac Firebird
Bought it in Georgia for 50 bucks no motor no trans Built a 350 for it and my uncle built me a th 350 trans I dont have any pics but i may have a video somewhere My other uncle gave me a set of wheels and tires of his 76 vette and i put em on before i put the engine n trans in lol ended up trading it for a motorcycle (after i pulled my engine/trans) |
1990 Mazda 323. I bought it for $4000 in 1993. The 1.6L engine produced an incredible 82 HP @ 5000 rpm. (You read that correctly.) This was possibly the worst engine in the world...was it made by lego???? Of course, at 5000 rpm the engine is howling like a banshee and definitely intimidates other drivers. Luckily I had the 5-Speed manual to get all that power to the ground.
I had bald tires and managed to hydroplane that beyotch at 60 mph, crashing into another car. I had frame damage, but just kept driving that POS anyway! Liability insurance sucks. The front end was kind of pointed down, but no problem! I just adjusted the headlights up a little and called it a day. 1 year later, I was stopped, waiting to turn left at an intersection when somebody barrelled into my rear end going 40+ mph. My poor 323 was launched forward and the trunk was crunched like a Coke can, wrapped around the rear tires. Sadly, I think that was the fastest that my poor car ever accelerated. Imagine this sad-looking car crunched on both ends. I was actually more angry that my sub box was broken in the impact though. I got a tiny bit of insurance money that I used to buy the next car, a 1988 Nissan Pulsar NX SE, which was a much better car, for $3300 cash. |
I had a 1990 Dodge Shadow ES coupe with a 2.5L 4-cylinder. The car wasn't anything special. It wasn't particularly fast (probably around 100 HP in that engine). It was a nice teal color and maybe that's where my affinity for that color began. It also had a cool graphics package on the side that said "SHADOW" in this ninja-ish looking font. I remember it had this Kenwood CD player in it that worked okay but when it got hot it was kinda worthless. That car didn't give me too many problems. It got totaled in a rear-end collision in August of 2001. I bought it back for scrap value, and traded it to some guy for a set of tires I bought a 1990 Dodge Daytona ES from. No pictures of the "car with no name."

Well...my first car was a Chevrolet Silverado. when i was 4...i woke up on christmas day 2000 in Everett, WA. I walked into my living room, and that was it. Gives me goosebumps every time i think about it.
I'm sure i have some pics somewhere, but instead, i found this: http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com/f..._silverado.jpg JUST like that one. same color, stickers, foot-steppers. drove it for 6 years till i lay it sit in our backyard. last time a drove it, only 1 motor worked. in 2008, we cut it up, stuffed it in the trash bin, and that was that :crying: That moment i walked into the living room was like somebody shooting a shotgun Full of GM into my heart. GM is still there. |

My mom used to have a red Geo Metro too! Also, one of my high school teachers had one, we used to laugh at him because it was so small - but then gas prices went up like crazy, and he was the one laughing. Anyhow, I still have my first car! My 1995 Buick Park Avenue (base, not ultra). I got it in August 2005 from, yes, my grandparents. I think it had about 98,000 miles on it when it was given to me. It now has about 145,000. |
My second car and my worst car was a white 1994 Geo Metro XFI. It was junk. Lasted 3 days, then I gave up on it.

1965 Impala SS , a/c , am/fm and amp stock . Had to rewire the charging system because the prospective buyer be for me burnt it up trying to jump it to get it to start . lots of good times
|
My first car was a 1981 VW Cabby (the truck). I got it from a friends dad after he tried to start it and it wouldn't start. He also complained about the battery always going dead. Went down to the library and copied off the wiring schematics. Found out VW uses Brown for ground and not black. :) That's what the problem was.
I drove that truck for 7 years until it fell apart. No really, One morning I went to go to work and the engine was on the driveway because the engine mounts had rusted through. Like I've posted in a few threads before this, My Park Ave is my first American car. :) |
My first car is my 96 LeSexy, march 28 will be 4 years that ive owned this wonderful car.. been through soo much, so many good memories. I remember my mom telling me that her and dad found a cherry buick lesabre (which is what i wanted) had 96,000 on it in 2007, she wouldnt let me skip school to go get it. So when i got out of school she had it in the parking lot waiting for me the first thing i did when i got in it was honk the horn and that started a whole frenzy of honks from other students LOL. It was a dealer car and the man that owned it was a mechanic so im the 2nd owner. I love my car.

1968 Dodge Dart
It taught me to love fuel injection. |
1994 Mercury Sable. Drove it for a little while, wasn't really impressed. Then some driver from Maine slipped on ice, crossed the street, jumped a curb, went up my uphill driveway, and totaled it.
The thing I miss most is the half-tank of gas that I lost. |
mine was a 87 corsica with the 2.8 v6.snappy little car and as a sophmore only 250 bucks couldnt beat it.:bd2
|
Mine was a 1995 Grand Prix SE....still have it sort of...its getting a little rusty but it has been there and back..still love that car though. Right now it has around 180K and its still kicking.
|
1982 Chevy S-10. With a 2 barrel Rochester atop the massive 2.8 liter V-6. Only 170,000 on the odometer. The best part was the 2.14 rear gears, I would probably say 0-60 in twenty seconds. Whatever speed you hit a hill at is what you stayed even floored. With all that in mind I loved that truck, my dad had fixed it up for me prior to me turning 16 and it looked great. Sold for $500, one of the biggest regrets in my life.
|
I had a S10 just like that in my past LOL but my first car was a 1964 Falcon Sprint (1970) It taught me to never put dual carbs on an unmodded car. I kept a army wool blanket on the back seat to put out flames.

96 neon, piece of crap. it was quick... for a 2.0L lol. i grew up in it since my mom bought it new, i tore it up as a kid so the interior was garbage. had non foulers on 3 out of the 4 sparkplugs because of leaky valve seals. stereo didnt work, smelled like bad milk the paint was flat and looked like a fat persons thighs due to hail damage. it was fun for what it was but i like torque. lots of vids of it on my youtube. Mine was a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville SLE. Got it in March of '08 wit 54k on it. Real clean, good body. In September, I stupidly pulled out blindly in front of an F250. Smashed my rear end and broke his head light. Sad thing is, I had just filled up. Good thing is, that gas lasted about 8 months, till I got it repaired. I now have a '93 with a '94 rear end.

I have no digital pics of mine just reg pics that are all dissapeered Arhh

I also had to rebuild the trans. I've spent about as much repairing it as I spent buying it, but I love it. I don't forsee ever WANTING to sell it.
|
1991 Beretta GT with a heap of problems. Bought it for $400 cash when I was 16. Got it all working, then a tree fell on it during a storm.
http://www.fortunecity.com/silversto.../gtberetta.jpg It wasn't nearly as nice as this one, but that's the color and the wheels it had. |

Was it a 50 or a 150? A V8 in a 50 would be out of this world...a slant six would be too for that matter....

My first car.... didn't look this bad:
http://www.dansgarage.net/cars4sale/n-298.JPG but didn't look this good (and wasn't a station wagon): http://www.chooseyouritem.com/classi...0/11876852.jpg '67 BelAir 4dr. My parents bought it for me while we lived in SC from a guy on base who restored them. Why he was getting rid of the one they bought for me i'll never know. Dad wanted 'us' to get it so we would have a car to work on and learn the ins and outs on. Much easier to work on those older engines. And the engine bay was capable of fitting a 7.0 427 V8, so my little small block 283 left us plenty of room to operate. As can be imagined, i miss that car. |
