Hmmmm......I think I like it! I may do the same for my car. $600 for a new painjob isn't feasible, so thanks for the idea!

My car came with a cover from the dealer, so many years ago. The first owner destroyed the paint underneath the hood, but I figured as long as it'* not rusting through the hood, it should be fine. (Plus, hoods can be replaced.)

Unfortunately, when I replaced my tattered, torn cover, the new one leaves some of the herpes uncovered. Lame.
