you are gonna use leather for the seats, not vynl, right? THis will be a sweet looking car when you are done.

Good question. Quite frankly, I really do not feel comfortable doing the seats myself. They are considerably more complicated than anything I've done to date.

Leather would be my first choice but it usually is sold in complete hides. This could get pretty expensive because I estimate it woulf take 2 tan and 1 green to do all of the seats. Also, I might not be able to get an exact color match to the existing vinyl.

Vinyl on the other hand is $13 per yard. I'll estimate that it will take 6 total yards of material. That'* only $78 so mistakes won't be a swift kick in the but. It will match exactly and is available 2 miles away from my house. I won't need a special sewing machine either as my mother-in-law'* seems to work very well with the material.

I guess it comes down to durability. The feel if the vinyl is better than the current leather in the car. It'* noticably softer. But how is that outer lumbar panel on the driver'* seat going to hold up to my *** scraping it? I have a spare rear seatback at the house that I can experiment with but the bottom was destroyed in a failed attempt to make bucket-like seats for the rear but they seem pretty popular on Ebay.
