I'm using the detailer once every other month. Like Bill said, its doing a hell of a good job of keeping grime and crap from collecting on the engine. When I washed it off, the crap that did stick to the detail layer came off in a simple spray. No need for any scrubbing. $7.99 a bottle here. The initial time I used it, I sprayed about half a bottle. Now, its just a basic coat.

Water isn't a problem. How much water gets on your motor in the way of road spray on the freeway in a downpour?
Now think about how little water would actually hit the vent grid in the rain. Very little. I have thoughts about flexible vinyl magnetic covers for the winter later, but so far, no problems (think of the magnetic door signs for businesses).
