Great picture try this someday too. Have a flash with you (wireless is better for this or bright flashlight) and flash the train a few times. It will still the train partly and you'll actually be able to see what it is.

This was taken with a super basic point and shoot on the manual setting, nothing fancy.
yep. You just have to have a good amount of light on it really quick. Was it pretty dark out? Looks like at sunset from the reflections. Still doesnt matter as long as you have a strong flash. You will still have the blur of the train. You know what I have a perfect example at home which is also a train that I flashed. I use it alot for weddings I will have the shutter open about 1/15th (depending on how fast they are moving on the dance floor) and flash them at the same time, its called dragging the shutter.
