Road trip- Tail of the Dragon in NC
Drove it this weekend and it was stunning!
info-http://tailofthedragon.com/
I took my 91 Z28 1LE and I'm glad I think my IROC'* reg brakes would not of kept up and 700R4 would of freaked. The 91 has a T-5.
Of course the sport bikes just flew through there, but in the 2 hrs I hung out and ran it twice, 3 people laid their bikes down, only 1 was slighly hurt.
Also if you want even more curves, check out NC RT64 east of 74
map-http://tailofthedragon.com/maps/tourmap.gif I was topping out 30 in the curves, 3rd gear., that was pushing it. I just wish I had some cool roads that where closer.
Cool thing is there are prof photo togs along the way and you can buy a pic of you running it, I just have to decide.
(I'm the red Camaro)

I also hit the Cherohala Skyway. It tops out at about 5800', you can see the high part road on the far mountain
Of couse no trip to that part of NC would be complete without a drive through the clouds on the Blueridge Parkway. ( I happened to have Led Zep'* Misty Mountain Hop on during this part)
I hope to take a bunch of people from my local 3rdgen board there next spring, if they can keep up. Don't drive I-40 if you like to run a strick speed limit. I tried to keep it reasonable do to be arrest me red, but I was getting fliped off by old ladys so- I had to just go MUCH faster.

Deals Gap is absolutely insane. I have ridden it before on a Gixxer 750, something like 300+ turns in 11 miles!! They warned us not to come out of 2nd gear, and they were right, a guy in our group twisted the throttle back, clicked in third, and it was all over. I scraped the foot pegs on the bike numerous times, its better than any roller coaster I've ever ridden.

As the sticker says now on my car, "1 good turn deserves 317 more" all in 11 miles.
Sadly the SSEi would be a pig on there. Too much weight.

I've driven roads like that in the Ouachita Mountains. For some reason everyone had to speed there. I swear this one woman in this Chevy Astro was on the verge of rolling it. My car handled it very well suprizingly. The first couple turns were a little sloppy, but the computer seemed to recognize what going on and firmed things up in a hurry. Then it almost felt like the rollar costers at Six Flags. Power on the steep grades was effortless and very strong. The only complaint was shI^^y brakes.
