About the only difference I see is 8MP. I was never fond of a DSLR having HD video. Should have never been incorporated that into a camera so I won't count that option. Having 8 more MP only means his resolution will be bigger, and it won't effect quality. Unless your into large format printing.

. The HD video actually isn't bad, I love having it because I'll never record enough video to justify a camcorder, but i want the HD when I do record. The video of my exhaust was taken with my T3i and it doesn't look half bad, but I also wasn't recording anything really that was moving.
For HD video I have my iPhone, for amazing pics I have the DSLR. I think the cost of them together was less than the retail of your camera!
I have no beef with either Nikon or Canon. Both make good products, I just got what I needed/wanted in my price range with the Nikon.
