Fo Sho, the the 3 8 00 and * u p e r c h a r g e d were annoying to paint, but I think worth it.

When I painted my cover, I simply sanded the paint off the letters. Same effect. Just factory light gray instead of white. I had originally hand-painted them red, but didn't like it.
