Push down and pull away from the car a bit to slightly bend the spring tab outward. Since it springs in toward the car it might be too close to the body to fit into the slot in the trim.

Hook the trim on the top of the clips and push down to hook it on the bottom side. You might not be getting the top clips far enough into the trim peice. I believe there is a pretty deep slot for them to slid into.
I tried that. I had my whole body wieght (wow, 120) pushed into the trim where it snaps in, and it still wouldn't go in right.
More weight then our boy Straitor (damemorder)

Hey, I'm pushing 155 now... But last time I messed with trim peices I was a light 112lbs.
