New (to me) 2008 G8 GT
When I bought the jeep they said it will take 5-7 days for it to clear before I can drive the beast home. I said I am driving it home today or I am going to walk away from this deal so here is my master card which has more credit available to me than the Jeep is worth....Needless to say I went home that day with the jeep, and got mega points as a bonus!

Right. They also have to declare the title clear of lien. The DMV then makes up a new title and sends it to the previous owner, who then has to sign it and senst it to me. Crazy. But it'* worth the wait.

most times if you buy from a dealer here you have to wait a couple days but they get your plates and registration and inspection all done by that time. only once was i able to drive it home in a few hours, when we bought the bonnie we traded the old grandprix on it and i went home to get it and it was ready to go.

When we bought the Beemer (used) we followed the owner to his bank. Paid him. They wrote out a lien release, he signed the title away and we were done. We took the car, title, and release home. The next day I went to the smog station, the DMV and had my plates, I think new title, and was driving the car that day. Not sure I see why this is so difficult. But it is what it is. Talked to the previous owner and he is going to the DMV today to discuss it and see what all has to happen. He ships out in March so it has to be resolved before he leaves. We'll get there at some point. We're just lucky that we don't need to drive the car.
