Yeah, get a box built around it so you aren't just sucking in hot air from the engine. Hot air is fine for fuel economy, but sucks for power.

I tried out some Reflectix stuff, the windshield-mounted heat prevention goods or the by-the-roll stuff available at home renovation stores, and it worked pretty well. You could try that out until you get a box built for it. I like the design. It'* very well-done work, and I'm sure it'* going to make you happier than you were with the stock setup. It looks like Auto Zone plastic tubing with a Specter filter. If you could polish up and paint white the rest of the engine bay, you'd be all set!

it is exactly that and it does help performance a bit plus i was driving it in 30 degree weather

That'* the exact setup I had on my Bonne back in the day lol eventual made a heat shield around the filter and it worked pretty good for me. In fact I think I even still have the whole setup kicking around my misc car parts boxes for one day I actually get back into a Bonne lol

That looks really sharp. There is a write up in tech info, should be in performance about how to build your own cold air box.
