Default new camera (now with night pics.)

Just got a new camera and was itching to take some pictures with it. I know the scenery isn't very good, but, it'* not like I'm going to find anything nice looking in the middle of March in Michigan. So, here you have it.. 3.10 MB worth of Aurora photos. the new camera I got is a Nikon 8700 8.1 MP camera. The pictures were resized from 3268x2448 to 800x600, with a 20% compression ratio to make them smaller in size. the car is actually pretty dirty right now and in dire need of a good wax job. I haven't been able to wax it since October!

Custom, Very nice photos of your Aurora. Is that an LED strip at the top of the rear window? 3rd brake light? Enjoy your new cam.

Thanks for the comments. The 3rd brake light is indeed a strip of LED'* across the top of the windsheild. It looks really cool at night. I'm going to try taking some night pictures tonight assuming I can figure out the night settings on the camear.

well, i tried to take night pictures and failed... miserably. they don't look very good at all and I even tried all of the settings on my camera. :( I tried the night portrait, fireworks/night, and night scene and on all of them they're blurry.. this is with a tripod too! The pictures arne't clear at all and are fuzzy. I'm very dissapointed but here they are anyways. .

For reference, this is a night picture that my $250 fijifilm camera took at night.. Youd' think that my new camera which is about 3x the cost would take as good as my 'cheap' camera.

If anyone has any tips or ideas why this camera is taking crappy night pictures definately let me know. Thanks!

Set the camera on a short timer - usually when I do long exposures I set me Canon to 2 second timer. Prevents nudges from blurring the picture when you hit the shutter.

Nice pics regardless
