Default my new sub box

well i got the sub box made. we went to home depot and got some 3/4 MDF well i didnt know i had to buy the full sheet i wanted only half, well we got the whole sheet and cut it in half just to fit in the buick. i decied that i might as well make a sub box for 2 subwoofer so i didnt have ALOT of extra wood. well it was our first time build a box i dont think it truned out half bad for a first timer. it took longter then what we thought it would take but its extra strong and it sealed tight. im only gonna half 1 sub untill i can get some money to buy another sub and amp. so only my 1 jbl will be used. so what do u guy think about the box?

ill post pic of the sub mounted when the sealent cures and i find some screws to hold the sub in. does anyone know the break in time for a jbl? i looked online and in the paper work that came with the sub.

I'd recommend not going crazy with it for about a month or so of normal use. ONe sub in there is fine, it looks good, i don't see anything wrong with it physically or design wise .

Good luck!!

box looks good but needs some carpet. i would run your sub at a lower than medium rate on the first day then you can turn it up gradually day by day reach bout half at a week the after a month you are pretty much good for anything. good luck.

Looking good there, don't forget to wrap it in carpet too.

The break in time for my JL Audio 10W7'* is 40 hours of use. Not sure on the JBL'* but gives you a better idea.

I would imagine it would be about 20 hours if not less. The suspension on ur jbls isnt as stiff as taylor'* subs

You're not breaking in the suspension. You're trying to get some nice wear on the voice coil, and surrounds, so the move like they should, instead of the factory fresh.

Very nice job on the box. I wish I had the skills to even make something like that!

Looks like you have some good woodworking skills going on there. I think the cats like it too.
