Default My new ride (and my old one too)

Hey guys! This isn't my first time posting here, but I figured I would share some info about my new Buick that I bought in December. I bought it with 114,004 miles on the clock and pretty much everything on the car works. My old daily driver was a 1989 Lincoln Town Car that was beginning to show its age at 244,000 miles!

As much as I enjoy working on cars (sometimes) it'* really nice to own a car that I can just get in and go without worrying about. I drove it to Florida a couple weeks ago and it was a very comfortable drive even with four people in the car.

The only money I've put into this car so far was for an oil change. It probably will need new air shocks in the rear as well as a fuel lever sensor, but those things can wait. I also haven't done anything to personalize the car yet. My old car has a lot of personal touches on it

I don't really have any other plans for it yet. I would like to put on nicer Buick wheels since I'm not crazy about the ones on it right now. I might also move the amp and subwoofers from the Lincoln into the Buick, but I still want to keep the stock GM radio.

Drives much less like a boat compared to the Lincoln. Much faster too. I still miss the yacht-like ride of my old car, but my wallet is much happier

Very Nice Pk Ave Patrick! Looks very clean and low miles that is good too.
If it is an Arizona car, I bet there is no rust ...
Does it have a leather interior or cloth?

Thanks! It was originally a Florida car, but spent most of it'* life in Virginia. I still haven't found any rust on the car yet! Being parked in a garage during most of the year probably helped. It has the gray leather interior. I wish it had the velour interior like my Lincoln, but the leather is a lot easier to clean

Buick looks very nice. And the Lincoln looked like it gave you years of good times.

Yesterday I changed the oil and replaced the fuel level sensor. The old one was really worn and the fuel gauge acted more like a metronome while I was driving. The low fuel level warning chime every ten seconds got really annoying.

The pump was a bear to get out thanks to the metal locking ring. I didn't have the special tool, but the ring came off after an hour of hammering and spraying with PB Blaster. The old ring was damaged from removing it, so I bought a new one for $6 at Napa. So far, no fuel leaks and the gas gauge is dead-on accurate! Now for some new tires...

I also detailed the car a couple weeks back (washed, clayed, and one layer of wax) since it was so nice out. Feels a lot more like a new car!

Nice! Great to have a clean PK Ave, something mine needs a wash & wax again.
Good work on the fuel sending fun! Ya those rings are a bear to get off.
I would want a new ring to install, if I ever have to do my pump etc.
Thanks for posting the shiny white Park Ave!
What kind of tires are you going to get?

Putting on a new ring helped since the old one was bent from the chisel and wouldn't fit under the metal prongs. Even the new ring required a lot of ring to seat back into place! I haven't decided on tires yet. The ones I have are Michelins. They still have a decent amount of tread, but they are from 2009 and I can see some signs of dry rot on the sidewalls. Any tire recommendations?

Tires are always are tough choice, so many to choose from. Check the Tread wear ratings and overall specs.
Our Pk Ave'* are fairly heavy up front & I used Michelin Destiny which has really great life & warranty & thick/strong sidewalls.
No punctures or problems in last 3 years. Still roughly 70% on treads left!
Can't say enough good things about them, even in snow.
The Destiny were recently replaced by Defender which are not the same strength of sidewalls. I would like to see the Michelin Premier A/* and see how thick their sidewalls are.
Also Continental tires for the larger sedan may be worth checking out.
