Looks great.....especially that upper intake. Just a note, that Optima yellow-top will kill your alternator before too long

Red Tops are the battery of choice if that brand is your flavour of choice and the dark stuff looks like rust inhibitor. I have the same in my car.

It'* a deep-cycle battery. The charging characteristics are beyond your alternators designed capability. Use it as a second battery, behind an isolator if you need it for your Audio.

what about if you get a higher amperage alternator? like a 160 like urs

No dice. You'll just kill a more expensive alternator. The charging/regulating circuits in automotive alternators aren't designed to deal with the deep charging characteristics of a deep cycle battery. Putting the correct circuit in BEHIND an isolator will solve part of the problem, but you'll still need at least a 160 or 200 amp alt at that point.

Running the yellow top isn't a matter of if, but rather WHEN the alt will die.

The red top is a standard automotive battery. But still with the Optima cell/coil/gel technology.

The yellow top is for RV'*, boats, or Audio systems, but not as a primary battery.

thanks much...maybe sooner or later ill get a 2nd batter...but right now ill prolly be getting a red top then
