I feel your pain Sarah. They use a lot of salt on the roads here, plus I live next to the salt water. When I had my Ranger, the side of the truck that was parked parallel to the water developed surface rust and peeling paint much faster than the other side. I'm assuming the same thing happened to my Century. The rocker panel on the drivers' side looks like swiss cheese right now, while the passenger side only has some paint peeling and surface rust.

When I got a 2001 LeSabre in 2007, the braided brake lines at the ABS controller were already rusted out. At least they were available @ GM already formed and bent.
Massachusetts maybe even worse than Michigan salt wise.

But my 64 and 65 Bonnevilles still have their original steel lines!!

Wow, my car'* only one year newer, and the fuel lines looked much better the last time I was down there twisting my lines to death.

If you weren't in the shop, if you've got some tube cutters, the Dorman kit installs fairly easily. You'll just have to bend it to fit, which can be done by a machinist, or with two screwdrivers and some strength.

Whatever you do to get it fixed, I would hit it real good with under body coating to protect it from the salt. I just bought a bunch, going to hit anything exposed under my new vehicle REAL good.

dakota - more than you're willing to spend. plus im also thinking i probably wont even sell it since im taking a loan out for a new car next year anyway.

the lines after this little clip still look really nice, its just the area by the fuel pump that is completely destroyed. so im thinking this may not be TOO big of a hit on my checking account just yet. of course the lines are on the right side of the car where everything flies up and hits them so ill definetely have to hit it with more undercoat. that rear wheel well on the right side is completely destroyed theres a fist size hole in the wheel well that let water come into my back seat.. caulked that up real good yesterday.. ridiculous what daily driving can do to a car.
