Looks like the kind you got is the Instamatic of the digital world. It'* just intended for snapshots, and works just fine in that respect.

Save up a few bucks. By the time you get a couple of hundred saved up, you'll be able to get a 5 or 6 megapixel camera...

Practice with your camera, if you look at the pic above the foreground snow bank is in focus but the car is out by just a bit. My camera has two steps to the shoot button, one to focus and one to shoot. Sometimes I point up press lightly then aim back down and press all the way down. Try all kinds of things doesnt cost nothin thats the beauty of digital cams....click away.
