well i finally got around to doing this because i dont work today. i bought the 3M super trim adhesive (#08090) from my local parts store and got the christian discount on it, i paid $15 this stuff is made for heavyweight headliners, dont use the general trim adhesive (#08080). i had my dad help me lift it on there, but otherwise i did everything else. i had taken this headliner out about a month ago, and it had just been sitting in the basement. i bought the fabric from hancock fabrics for $8.99 a yard, i got 2 yards, so that gives me about a foot of extra. i sprayed 3 coats of glue on the board and on the fabric, let it dry for 5 min. i layed down 3 sheets of wax paper, but i ended up not needing it, this stuff only sticks to itself. and then i placed it on. at first i got really pissed cuz it wasnt sticking, but i guess it just takes time. you really have to work with it. anyhow, heres the pics so far...ill prolly put it back up tomorrow.

Did the fabric store have the foam backed stuff? I was going to buy that "Heads up" kit from the auto parts store but it'* something like $40.

yeah this stuff is foamed back. i special ordered it, and shipping was only $5

i ended up paying about $40 for supplies, (24 for fabric, 15 for glue)but after all the research i did on this, i know it will work good.

My first car was 86 cutlass 442 with T-tops and after a while the wind would catch the fabric and BAM the whole headliner would come down, happen 3 times, the first 2 I just sprayed in the car and used paint roller to roll on, would last couple of months than happen again, damn headliner be flappen again.

i just thought of something funny i was gonna say before...

the adhesive comes out really weird. it reminded me of spiderman'* web. it doesnt come out like normal spray stuff, almost like silly string....

damn i wish i had known you were gonna do that, i could have asked my friend how he put the lifted chevy symbol in his headliner (monti-carlo). a pontiac symbol, or even the word "Bonneville" would look awesome lifted off the headliner!

i dont know how well that would have worked with this particular headliner, its pretty thick, almost 1/4", it really hid all the imperfections really well. but yeah...a nice big pontiac symbol would have been cool...to late now! the next person can do that

How did you remove the headliner from the car? I have never seen this done before and realized there must be a trick to removing the headliner from the interior of the car. Nice work, bet it looks great when you reinstall the headliner and place the trim back in place.
