my neon collection is over $700 alone, and i put over $1000 this summer in parts and accessories( that dosent include the neon). I figure by the time that i am done with my car i will have $10,000 in to it. The next mod is the audio system that is scheduled to cost me 4,000, and that is everything installed by myself.

Depending on the mods, the value can go up or down, regardless of what the mod cost.
IE, if you had a muscle car from the 70s, and replaced the stock rims, with some aftermarket stuff... the org rims would give the car a greater value. Same with body kits and stuff.
The appraised rate is everything that the car has.... engine... stereo... rims... etc etc. It'* like a replacement value if the car was stolen.
You are right, most places do go by the KBB value, which is how my insurance company works, BUT, since the KBB value is below what they would normally insure the car for, they asked if I would get it appraised inorder to continue having insurance with them.
ok but if you trade in your car they wont give you 6800 so 6800 is replacement value most insuracne companys wont let you insure a car fro more than its blue book value
so with all the add one one my car what is worht like 9000 or something and there wont be a day in hell the a buyer nor a insurance company with give that to me in the case of a total loss

$7500 is my replacement value.... if the car is stolen... that'* what I get.
Since the car is now appraised... there is no fighting over how much it'* worth.
To the insurance company, my 91 is worth $7500 CAD (unofficially... I get the real # back tomorrow).
Of course if I sold it I'd never get $7500 for it.... but that'* what it would be worth.
Anyways.... it'* worth more then $7500 to me..... I'm just glad I'll be able to fully insure it next year.
