The purpose in modding is not to make a slow car go fast, it'* to make any car perform better than was intended by the OEM. Your theory is flawed. You need to mod the GTO, otherwise you are just like all the other GTO'* out there.
Put a P1SC or a D1SC on it.

Even if it'* fast enough for you. You will still want it to handle better. It'* always something when you own a car. I have yet to be content with a car I own.

Thanks guys!!!! I just don't want to become one of those guys that have a never ending urge to make my car faster. Previously I had a Grand PRix GTP Comp G I got to 350 hp and was told that I would start being limited due to that fact that its a front wheel drive car so I decide the GTO would be a nice bump up an keep me satisfied.

One of my coworkers had a GTO, he modded it crazy like. Headers, cam, supercharger, gears. He was limited by the size of tire he could put on the back. 245 was it. He had 500hp and just spun the tires. If I remember right, he never got very far in to the 12s on the quarter. Just spun his tires.
