That would be awesome if he has mods he would like to sell...I am very interested!

You guys should come up to visit us in March! You're close enough right? Maybe you could talk Scott into coming too.

Way to go Shawn, nice first ride indeed

My first was a 68' gmc half ton. rust, rust, and a 3 speed manual column shifter (aka 3 in a tree)

Looks good Shawn! You know I'm going to like it because it'* RED!

My first car was a 1978 Datsun 280z 2+2. Damn I miss that car.

That bubble-but sure could use a factory spoiler. When I talk to my friend I'll see what he wants for the trunk spoiler off his 1989-1/2 Turbo GP.
BTW, I remember seeing a white McClaren STE with a Getrag 5-spd. How many off these were made? I'd love to get one with the Getrag 5-spd. Supposedly that 5-spd Getrag trans will bolt right up to a 3.8. Hmmm -custom burnt computer from Speedyguy for $400 (or whatever it is he gets), a $200 tranny from a salvage yard (I know where I can get a couple), some custom wiring and a cltch setup with a renovated shift console and I could have one killer Bonneville -but I'd rather do it to a Series II L67 than a L27 -either way it would fun.

The spoiler on your friends isn't factory because none of the McLarens had spoilers, and personally I like it better with no spoiler because it makes it even more of a sleeper. The 5 speed you saw is also not stock, they were all automatics. The 5 speed swap is very common, but definately not stock. Overall only 1000 Turbo STE'* were made, and 3725 TGP'* were made in 89, and 3750 were made in 90. This makes the STE almost 8 times as rare as the 2 doors.

Yes they do rule! I think they are awesome. It may not qualify for your new turbo 3.8 Litre badge, but it is getting a Vanity plate like the GTP & the other Turbo GP, and if the plate doesn't give it away, the STE Turbo badges on the side should.

In 1989 they only put the 3.1 turbo'* in the 2-dr'*. That is what my friend has. Basicly the smae drivetrain between the 2-dr and the STE -aren't they?
I am almost positive the spoiler is factory. There are about 6-7 Turbo Grand Prix coupes that are in Alexandria, St. Cloud and Long Prairie, MN (all towns with-in 35 miles of me) and only 1 doesn't have a spoiler and the ones that do all have the same spoiler that was optional on the 1990-1996? GP SE coupes.
