People can drive what ever they want, but I really don't care for those. But I laugh and point at smart cars.

Ask them this.

What did you pay for that car?

Why, $25000

I paid $10000 for mine.

What is your mileage?

About 50 mpg

I get 25

So, if we both drive 15,000 miles a year, and at $3.75 a gallon I pay $2250 each year. You will pay $1125 a year for gas for a savings of $1125 per year. When you look at the price difference, and what you save, you will match me in 13.3 years. You expect to still have that car? No? Then I win.

I look at it this way. Unless I can recover the cost in half the pay off time, it'* not worth while. Some guys at work bought scooters to drive to work. $1000. I showed them the math, will take 10 years to recover what they spent. They didn't like that. The problem with these new gas saving cars and claiming all the money you will save in gas is they just don't stand up to Mr. calculator. I have yet to find anything that will have a return on investment as fast as CNG, and that'* less then a year.

I have nothing against the Priuses or the Smart cars. I imagine those are as much fun to fill with gas as they are to parallel park.

Will you see me afford one anytime soon? Fat chance.

I drive big ole gas hog trucks..Thats how i am thats who i am.Thats how ill always be..If you dont like it kiss my country ***..Thats how i see it lol..Sure maybe a prius is a fuel efficent car..Maybe its a marvel in teechnology..But i tell ya what i may spend damn near a grand a week on fuel between personal and work but i make alot more than that to cover it..People always ask me why do you drive trucks? i understand for work but why have one for your DD...Why not.Its big safe powerful handles well and if i ever need to go offroad i can do it..I need to pull a trailer i can do it..I need to pull a camper sheel off its frame i can do it..ect ect//cars are going to be required a 5% fuel economy increase each year from 2017-IIRC 2025 where as trucks are only required a 3.5% increase thats because MOST people understand trucks are not desighned for great fuel economy they are desighned to work!.Trucks are in my honest opinion the absolute very best vehicle ever made for all uses..

Trucks are indeed useful if you routinely need the extra cargo space. Try hauling a couch in a Bonneville. It doesn't work. Trust me. I tried every idea that couldn't potentially cave in my roof.

I don't haul large objects, I'm too tall for a pickup truck and a Prius (my co-worker has one), and I enjoy being comfortable when crossing many state lines. Thus, I'm a sedan man, as long as my butt approves of the seats.
