Carrying a heavy load!
Dead 1-2 shift solenoid. Didn't feel like driving it across town like that, so I rented a uhaul car dolly and towed it with the truck! Total weight was probably pushing 4500 lbs, which is a fair amount for my little truck! It is rated to tow up to 6000 lbs total though, and I definitely think it could do it. Although at that point, I'd like trailer brakes.

It amuses me to see just how big the Buick is next to the truck. In size and weight, the Buick is definitely bigger.
The 4.3 V6 provides decent acceleration, but has a lot of cojones for towing like this. Didn't ever even break 2000 rpm, even with hills and stuff. Probably about a 10-15 mile tow altogether. Made me happy I invested in a big auxiliary trans cooler for it.
I hope to get my Buick back and shifting right soon!

I need to get me one of those dolly'*. Make it nicer to take the car to the track. I thought those dollies were not rated high enough to pull our cars? The most I pulled behind me was 12,000 pounds. Ya, brakes were a must.
It'* very close to the maximum capacity, I think for long trips a full enclosed trailer would be better.
They also like for the car + trailer to weigh 80% of the towing vehicle'* weight...which is really nothing more than a silly regulation made to force you into renting one of their trucks too. By that standard, not even a full size Chevy truck would be enough to tow my car, which is just ridiculous! 6000 lbs capacity is 6000 lbs capacity. Friend of mine said just tell them you're towing a Honda Civic, worked like a charm.

Oh yeah, trans cooler for sure if you plan on doing any towing! I have mine set up properly with the big cooler and a Dexron VI refill with very regular changes. I want it to last a long time.
Haha, nah, it'* cool with me. Just took it out to get some gas (4500 lbs of dead weight seems to suck it down, somehow) and it had it'* usual bite. In fact, I almost think it wanted to do it again.
