Well all set to do the rear brakes!
Attachment 57382 Before Shot! Attachment 57383 Caliper removed, old rotor removed, ready for new pads. Attachment 57384 Old pads removed, ready for new pads and rotor. Attachment 57385 New rotor installed, caliper re-mounts with new pads. Attachment 57386 Finished one side back together ready for wheel mounting! https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b...i/P1000558.jpg This is the piston that goes into the caliper for which that special toll is used. Attachment 57387 Tool in action threading (clockwise) piston back into caliper. (poor focus) Attachment 57388 This is the left rear rotor inside.....obviously the main culprit for the vibration! https://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b...i/P1000564.jpg Easier than I imagined. Just have to remember to "thread" the piston back into the bore before remounting the pads and caliper. Emergency cable was never removed, just a bracket removed for more freedom of movement of the whole caliper. Thanks to Archon for info, tips, diagarams, and offers of technical phone support! Now it brakes smooth and quiet! |
I see you have your priorities straight Brian, Corona, nice Mexican Beer. I just went online for the first time today to see how you're doing with your brakes and it looks as though you're just starting. Don't take to many beer brakes now.
Keep us posted. |
I'll have a beer for you too.

looks like a 4" C-clamp to me.. i thought we need 6"?
|
Where are your jackstands? hmm? A hydraulic floor jack is a LIFTING device, not a supporting device...tsk tsk tsk
As the cliche goes, better safe than sorry. |
i got worried about the c-clamp talk, because i didnt see the caliper cube in the picture....
|
x2 Toasty....Brian, you may not want to use that C clamp to rest the brake caliper....you need a reset tool.
