These waxes make you think ití* shining the car because in the process of application, it is removing all the road grit, oxidation, and grime the surface (I.E. clear coat) has accumulated over time. In this case, depending on the severity of the grit, a carnuba wax may actually be doing more harm to his costly clear coat than what it offers in protection. But thatí* the fine line he has to walk for something he drives daily, in the New York winters with road salt/sand and other environmental items his car is subject to. I imagine he spent a lot of $$ on a multi-layered, many times wet-sanded, perfectly layed clear coat. The last thing I would be doing is putting a wax on it, carnuba or not.

For a true shine, he needs to strip that wax off there and use a true polish and/or gloss enhancer, even perhaps a glaze (which will give it that still wet look). Applied preferably by hand. Machines do make life easier, but some polishes (particularly glazes) donít react well with the heat generated from the friction caused between the surfaces of the buffer/polisher and the car. I only use my polisher on stubborn marks, scratches and scuffs that I physically am taking out of the clear coat. I use 3M products personally (polishes, glazes, mark removers, gloss enhancers, etc) and Iím sure many of the Zaino Zombies will chime in at some point.

If he does something like that, hopefully no damage has come to his clear coat, that paint job will be blisteringly awesome! Not that it isnít now, just 110% even better!

Oh, as to Amanda (I think that was her name), I have a special, double nut compound polish and application method just for her!

Regardless of your rhetoric, I have Alot of affiliations with Custom Car Shows, Sponsors, Owners, Yes Carnaube is a wax (Didnt I already say that) and a protectorant .I do not rely on products that use abrasives to polish including carnauba'*, My car doesnt need them. The top coat is already like glass. I am not about to "strip" anything off my $7000 Paint Job. I wax my car practically once a week and it looks as good as the day It rolled out of my friends Shop. I'm winning Awards, and think I know what I'm doing. As for Amanda,... she is a sweet girl who takes Her studies and future seriously. Jeeez I talk a friend who goes for a dip in the Lake into posing with my car and now she wonders just what kind of leg humpers are here. Girls in bathing suits are commonplace here. Maybe some here ought to get out more often.

Pete, I wont be showing the Car in the foreseeable future, My Aunts death and settling Her estate (large), a new marriage, and keeping up with my properties and two house 600 miles apart has left me drained. I spend as much time as I can relaxing here at the Lake.

JC, When things settle down I am toying with the idea of doing my V-Star in Sapphire or Cobalt Marble. Pics would follow, of course.

Thanx to everyone for enjoying the ride, I came to the Club looking for a mod or two for the GXP, got bit by the Bug and wound up turning it into a Showcar. Great to hear it catches most'* fancy.
