I completely understand where the loom is and how/why it was done. It'* a good way to go. My personal experience with taking the factory heat tested loom from the front cylinders is that it'll melt on the #6 wire

Might be different looms out there. The stuff I used to use got brittle on me. I switched brands, and have this stuff on the 2, 4, and 6 with no issues on the Zilla.

Haha, well I actually did notice a burning smell late last night and even opened up the hood to look but I wasn't sure what to look for. But now that I think of it it did smell like melting plastic. Once I eat something I'll go out there and look.

I know they make different heat ratings of loom. I used some red loom on my plug wires as a preventative measure and it melted pretty bad on the 4 and 6 wires. I destroyed one of my 7mm beldens recently anyways so i recently upgraded to the 8mm Beldens that you get when you tell NAPA they are for a 1995 SSEi. Sadly the wires that are intended for the 95SSEi are a better fit length wise than the 2002 ones were.

I hope I found the right stuff. Nobigdealifitmelts. The stuff I have on the Zilla never has, but the stuff I scrounged yesterday MIGHT have been the old stuff. Either way, remember the air gap lecture from yesterday. That'* the important thing.

I had to pull pretty hard to get the melted part off of the metal.

So Bill do you think I should cut it off or just try to move it further away?

We looped it well yesterday. Just cut off what you can and leave it naturally looped around the O2.

I gaurantee you my downpipe runs hotter than his. Some loom will hold up, some won't.

As I said, I have had loom on my plug wires on the Zilla for two years now. With no issues. This was the old cheap crap I dug out of a box yesterday.
