Default 96+ Hood light option

I've always felt left out since selling the 95 SSEi and no longer having a hood light. Yes..I have a trunk bag with cigarette plug in light....still have wanted for a built in one. Every darn GM car I've had has had one except this 97 that I currently have. Been combing the junkyard for a 88-93ish full size Chevy/GMC pickup with the underhood retractable light.

Found one and then the task of where to mount it became an issue. There is absolutely no room under the hood of the 97 SSEi for it to go w/o interfering or looking silly.

I tested the length and added it into the trunk. There was a 2x4 piece added to keep the carpeting at the right place..otherwise, it was bolt on and hook up.

Reaches around the entire car and works great.. my light isn't restricted by being held to the hood... and it'* magnetic.

I've always thought it was kinda lame that my Bonne didn't have a light under the hood yet my 89 Celebrity had one. I guess thats why I always have atleast my mini Mag in the car.

Nice install Bill. That light is bright as heck too!! GM should make the underhood light as bright, because when mine is on, you cant see crap with it. IMO its only good if your filling fluids.

I had it in my Burb and both my trucks. It'* a great light, and will reach all 4 tires. The magnetic base is VERY handy for working at night. Sticks where you want it. I've often considered adding one to my Bville as a supplement to the stock underhood light.
