Default 2nd 90 SSE ( new family member)

Well as many know, I recently purchased a second 90 SSE to replace my aging 90 SSE.

I drove it home last night, 4+ hour drive home, with temps hitting as low as -20C or -4F. The car gave great heat. It got great gas mileage, but I was really easy on it using cruise most of the way back, but not when you could barely see 2 ft in front of you due to snow.

I drove it straight to the garage so it can get a certification. Up here you have a to get a safety done on the car to make sure it is safe for the road.
Those that seen the pics I got when Jim W went to look at it for me, it had a custom hood prop rod ( snow brush), well I fixed that today with 2 new hood struts.

Anyhow while I was there, I managed to sneak it up the road to the car wash,to get the salt off it. It did have plates on it when I drove it there, but they were removed to send back to the seller.

Now for the few pics ( more once I get the car on the road and home).

Nothing a good cleaning can't help

SSE hood liner

It can use a paint job, but remembering that I only paid 900$ for it, I can't complain much.

Notice the mesh grill installed by one of the previous owners!

and who can forget the tails that came on this car. Or should I say the MINT tails that came with this car.

anything that may look like delamination is NOT. I just had it washed and the specs are frozen water, and the lighter color is the huge *** snow bank behind it. I now have 2 sets of mint tails and one extra driver side mint tail ( I think it was the drivers anyhow)

Reminds me of some car I know...

Nice find, glad you got another old girl to replace the white one. BTW, I guess the previous owner installed that STB as well?

Mike...Im very happy for you. I looked at the threads, and I actually talked to gramps car about getting the rear doors to work. I was going to meet up and replace the latches. Are they working? I know what you mean about haveing sets of MINT tails, definitly a nice find for sure. But take them off and put cra**y ones on for winter. I did that , and Happy that I did.
I'* sure that you'll have a blast swaping the parts, I did when I demoed the 89. Just get your self a case....

The drivers rear door is still stuck closed, and the passenger side is temperamental.

I will have to pull the drivers side panel off to get to the latch. I would like to put 2 new latches in there, but I know that with enough lube they should last a little while. Only thing is that I did the drivers side on my white car twice and it still sticks.

I hate the door latches on these cars, such a poor design, especially the rear latches. A summer job for sure. Drivers door on my car is...well the hinge is bad, I have another, which I'm hoping to have installed this saturday. I replaced the latch a few weeks ago, as one of the threads on the latch seemed to be striped. Put the new one in, but its just no good- door does not always close properly. I've replaced so many of these latches, so it really pi**es me off that it was not a simple swap. waiting for warm garage.....
