Default 1994 Chevrolet Silverado

For most of my life I've always had a sports car of one type or another. I've just always had an itch for something fast and not practical. About ten years ago that all changed when I bought my much sought after mid nineties Chevy 1/2 ton truck. I started work in GM Dealerships in 1996 and fell in love with the C1500'* of the day....particularly the TBI versions. At the time I didn't understand much about the inadequacies of those engines but.....they were reliable. THAT....I knew. Finally some 14 years later in 2010 I got my chance to have the truck I always wanted. A '94 Extended Cab Stepside Silverado with a 350 TBI. I enjoyed driving it bone stock until it was time to remove the worn out 350 and 4L60E at 390,000 miles and give it all a much needed facelift.

To start off with.....now that I had a truck....I NEEDED a truck. But something was missing for me in regards to power. I did a TON of research on TBI performance and went to work. Why TBI? I just find it easy to work with and the reliability factor is still there. I went to work on a 383 with a decent cam, Vortec heads, upgraded ignition system, 4bbl Summit Stage 2 intake manifold with a 50mm to top it all off. Fast Chips supplied a custom performance chip in which to make it all work. The 4L60 got a fresh rebuild with a shift kit and upgrades throughout and I installed a 2000 rpm stall converter to round the transmission out. Out back I installed a 3:90 gearset with a Power Trax locker. I couldn't help but to get a cowl hood and throw some 454SS side mirrors on to give her a more sporty look. She aint the fastest thing in town but it'* one helluva lot more enjoyable to drive now.

Anyways...here'* some shots:

and a shot of the engine bay:

Nice clean truck & 383 with all the fixin'* including a rebuilt 4L60 trans... good work, and now very reliable.
I'd take your truck any day over the new new products out there!
There is something to be said for real steel frame & bumpers. Way to much plastic used in the new PU'* today.

I bet it does okay. You could probably get a little more out of it by getting cold air to it instead of underhood air. You'd lost the cool induction noises though.

Thanks Art. That'* kind of the way I feel about it with the newer trucks. Too many bells and whistles for me. Just something else that can break.
