I don't know of any way to stop it. That was a problem with my 90 Bonne and my 95 Grand Am

That'* a bummer fo sure. The only other place I am having a problem with is the spoiler, it'* starting to fade. So far I have been able to rub it out and keep it polished. I may need to spray a ne clear coat on it. All the electronics on these cars are something else. I just had a fuel pump replaced. $800, damn. They found the pump with no problem but the sending unit and electronics in the tank was a killer. I understand the electric connections to or on the factory pump were a problem. They are so close together that they short and burn. Not good. I have an after market on now and it is a much better set up than the original factory. I am starting to leak trans fluid now. It'* just the gasket so no big deal. I am sure I will have other leaks show up. As long as that car has been parked with very little use, the gaskets and seals have to be starting to dry out. The car may look new but I'm thinking it may be a monster inside.

Great car. The body and paint look to be in great shape.

Don't give up on the car! It'* just a little bit of work, and you're good to go again. It'* too good to give up on.
