Default CTS engine chatter.

Since it'* gotten cold out I've noticed something pretty disturbing on my 05 3.6 CTS. When the engine is started blow freezing there is a very loud chatter like an oil-starved engine would make. This is the first car that I have EVER had that has made this type of noise. It makes me pretty uneasy on a 2 year old car with less than 70,000 miles! This is my 4th car, and the 1st to do it.

I took a video to help in figuring the problem out. Thanks!

Below freezing? You think the temperature differential is creating a size difference that causes rubbing? Also, certain oils are for different temperatures, so the oil may be out of an efficient temperature range.

I dunno, I'm a noob but I just want to contribute.

It doesn't seem to have any kind of miss to it. It idles really smooth. Just for the record, I'm running Mobil 1 5W30 as Cadillac recommends so I'm stumped. Oil level is also normal. I'd check oil pressure, but the 3.6 doesn't come with an oil pressure sensor even.

Sounds to fast to be motor related IMO. Is it possible that maybe the ABS system is just making alot of noise during it'* self test in the cold weather?

It'* definitely coming from the engine internally.

My BMW makes strange sounds when warming up too. Must be a high end car thing lol?
