66 Tbird
Here is project 66 T-bird.
I just love this interior.
The fuel had turned while in the tank for 34 years. The fuel pick up and sending unit were covered in this thick rust and varnished gasoline. Amazingly the gas gauge still worked.
The original fender flares.

True Car Nut
looks pretty solid, should be a good project. tbirds are interesting to me in the amount of gadgets they had. seems like everything they could think to put in a car pretty unique stuff for 66

This overhead console has plenty of features that were ahead of the time back in 1966. The flasher is actaully a button that turns on the front turn signals and the rear lights and flashes them accordingly and it actually works.

The car came with one, and almost everything for this car can be purchased new by a few dealer who remake these old parts. Including old service manuals.

I use a version of that manual for my Ws. It'* not useful but once in a great while that book gets something right. lol
This T'bird is simple to figure out. I barely even need a manual.

Wow that is some rust on the fuel pick up! That top ring musta been almost welded on there!
I really like the interior as well. Classic T-Birds are so nice inside. Everyone who get in will say wow look at all the chrome and buttons! A real time machine!

Actually I was able to get the ring off by just tapping it with the end of a screw driver, but I was prepared to go to war with it. lol
The first time I plopped a battery in it and the radio came on and I heard some oldies playing on the AM radio it really is like a time machine. Feels like you are back in 1966 all of a sudden.

I wet sanded the car will 1500, then 2000. I used some heavy rubbing compound worked my way up to a polishing compounding. Then topped it off with some wax and then an instant detail in a spray bottle.
This is 48 old paint shinning in the sun. Looks amazing. (I had 20 yards of soil dropped off that will be fun moving not)
I still have a lot more exterior detail work to get to, but I see progress and this is exciting.
