Default 1998 GMC Jimmy Fuel tank vent valve hose questions

Hi, I'm a new member and a bit out of my depth when it comes to car repair.

I recently replaced my tank and fuel pump after seeing it leak a massive amount of gas while running. I also replaced the front vent valve on the tank when I broke the nozzle off. Now the pump works great and it doesn't leak gas like before, but there is a hanging line coming from the vent valve that I can't find a place for.

Before I started taking things apart I took some pictures of the parts I was going to be messing around with, and the line that comes from the vent valve goes into what looks like a Y splitter, with one line going towards the engine and the other being wedged into the frame work. (pics and artistic rendering below).

I also noticed in the pictures I took before that the hose connecting to the vent is kinked. The second picture is after breaking during removal, but the same angle as before.

So now that I have everything set back up as it was before the tank is leaking gas from this hanging hose while the car is level or pointing down hill. I could use some pointers as to what to do now.
I have thought of just kinking the hose as it was before, it ran just fine for a year before this, but I'd rather fix it properly, but I don't know where to start or even where this line goes, or even if the y splitter (that I don't have a picture for) is supposed to be there or not.

That hose needs to be open and not plugged. It'* for the atmosphere side of the vent valve.
Also there'* a line going to the canister and from there to the purge valve at the engine.

The vent valve has a filter that the hose goes into. That line should NOT be kinked or that filter plugged or it will have issues with fueling.
Here'* two diagrams for that model year. I believe yours to be this one.
