Default 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ service battery

The dealership had to put a new transmission in my 17 Silverado and now I keep get alerts to service my battery and battery has shorted cell. I put a brand new battery in it and it was fine for a few weeks and then i got the alert again, my truck was sitting in the driveway and hadn't moved all day. Any clue what could be causing this. I have only had this truck maybe 4 months. Thanks in advance

I'd like to see the voltage (from a volt meter, not the dash) when it is saying this.

I'd also like to see voltage (from a volt meter, not the dash) right after it has just been started.

It hasn’t said it again since Saturday. I did notice my voltage gauge on the dash was low yesterday (right above 9) but after me and my daughter left the store it was back up to 14.

I think the PCM regulates output on these to slightly increase fuel economy. I can't remember what year they started doing this on these, but they do it. I bet when it is reading low if you turn everything on (all lights, blower on high, etc.) it pops right up to nearly 14v .

Maybe it re-learned the battery or something.

Then I looked in your owner'* manual, check this out:
