Default Knocking and misfire in #2 cylinder

Driving home on the interstate while I was In cruise control I heard a pop. Noticed that the rpms was climbing up to 4K and then would drop back down under 1k. It would fluctuate like that. Like it was struggling to shift or get fuel maybe. The. The check engine light started flashing. Took it off cruise. And just kept a steady pressure on the gas pedal. When I would go to try and climb a hill I had to put the pedal down almost to the floor to keep the power. Rpms would jump to 3-4K until I let off. Would seem to run fine as long as I had constant pressure. Kept driving because I was in the middle of nowhere. As I pulled into a gas station the check engine light flashed again. Did not stay on either time just flashed. And the slippery roads light came on and at idle the truck was running really ruff. Popped the hood and there is a ticking coming from the engine. Sounded like it was about half way down on the passenger side. I had to finish driving it home and the longer I driver the louder the ticking would get under acceleration. Every time I stopped or slowed down the slippery roads light would come on. I put the pedal to the floor once and the rpms and motor reeves up to over 4K and would not shift gears. Got home finally and when I turned the truck off it just died instantly and struggled to turn back on. I’ve done compression check all was good. Swapped the coils around still hade the same code #2 cylinder misfire. Pulled the valve cover checked rockers there was no play all are good and tight. Checked the push rods those are ok also no bends or breaks. Drained the oil it was clean no debri or metal. I know it’* not a collapsed lifter now. Any ideas??

No the plugs looked fine. I may try that as a cheaper start though.

If the electrodes appear fine, but the ceramic has a crack, you will still misfire.

No way a look is a valid test.

They are nearly ready for replacement by the book. Depending on what kind of use it has had over 92,000 miles, they might be overdue.

Flashing CEL indicates a misfire. Could be one of several causes, but with 92K on the plugs that is an obvious place to start.
