2008 Buick Lucerne.....
Elderly parents bought a 2008 Buick Lucerne brand new, there is one wheel that will not hold air, never has. Now that I got them moved close to me I have to air up that tire every couple of days for them. Pain in the #**! Buick dealership tells them, " Buick had a problem and some of their wheels do that". Anyone else had or heard of this problem? Can we contact Buick Corp. and get any satisfaction?
chances are, pitting under the bead. pretty common problem for older alloy-coated wheels.
two easy options to confirm the issue, assuming youve checked for screws or nails.
option 1. inflate the tire to around 40-45 psi and spray a soapy water solution around the bead (where the tire meets the rim) and look for bubbles also, spray the tire valve stem to see if you have a leak there.
option 2. remove the tire from the vehicle. inflate the tire to 40-45 psi and submerge the tire in water and, again, look for bubbles.
if its a valve stem. pretty cheap. few dollars +labor
if its leaking at the bead, you could have your shop try bead sealer, also pretty cheap. problem is, that doesnt always work, and the leak may come back. parents may need to spend some $$ on a new wheel.
