2015 2.5L chevy
I just bought a 2015 Malibu. Does anyone know if the 2.5L I4 is an interference engine or not? Does it have a timing belt or chain? No issue now but want to be prepared when the time comes.

Until someone comes with the information, accompanied by a source, I will share my thoughts. This engine as I understand it is in the EcoTech family, which use timing chains, and are interference engines.

I also took a skim through the manual, and timing belt is not listed in scheduled maintenance (typically every 40-60k), which reinforces my guess. You may wish to speak with the dealer service department.
