Any ideas on why the front pump doesn't work, is getting ground, not getting positive? Put new front pump on and no worky, rear works. Is there a relay or controller down steam from the switch? All fuses in the glove box are good.

Check for 12V at the connector (body side) to the pump when the switch is activated.

I would assume */w stands for station wagon, so yes, a rear washer pump.

OK, My bad....

Checked for power at the pump when switch is activated, no positive, just get ground. I've found info where there'* a circuit board in the wiper motor housing that may be at fault. Think it'* that or the switch for the front pump. Rear pump actuates through that same board and it works, different switch altogether though.

As far as I see, the rear wiper circuit is it'* own separate entity and has nothing to do with the front circuit....

But you are correct, it'* either the front wiper switch or the circuit board for the motor......

If the wiper arms function ok with the switch:

Key on(engine not running), turn wiper switch to the low speed.....Disconnect harness to the motor.......attach test light to ground and probe the dk green wire......should be off.....now press the washer switch, should be on bright......now probe the pink wire....should be dim or off......now press the washer switch......should be on bright...if you get those results, the washer/wiper switch is ok, and you need a cover board for the motor......if you don't get those results, it needs a new switch.....

Thanks, that seems straight forward and in plain English. Will give it a go next day or so and see wassup. Let you know how it tests out. This car is an ole beater but runs good. Hate spending money on her unless absolutely necessary. Worse case I'll hook up a switch and hot wire the pump. For now I switched the rear pump hose to the front pump and it works to wet the front windshield. Problem with that is that the rear wiper works then and it falls off in use. Rear wiper is a special blade no longer sold by GM. Replacements do not fit the way they should, has to do with the way/thickness of the clip where it mounts. So every time I use the rear I need to make sure it stays halfass clipped on or it will fall off and the arm will scratch the rear window.
