Default Malibu 3.1 engine swap

hello all, i am into an engine swap from my 99 malibu 3.1 (parting out) into my 97 malibu 3.1. everything appears to be a go, but i have read some about engine not being a direct fit. any advice?? i suspect the intake and maybe injector harness.
side note.. the sad part is i just put the new heads on the 97 and it spun a rod bearing after 500 miles dang!
i hope i am in the correct forum section, i apologize if not.

Do both motors have the same UIM? I'm not sure what year they changed the motor from the L82 to the LG8 in the Malibu.. If the UIM in the 99 has the ridges in it, it should be the L82, which is what should be in the 97. I'm gonna say that both have the same motor/setup, but I may be wrong.

by UIM i wouls assume upper intake manifold. i will check that out thanks. unfortunately there has been a different engine installed before i got it. i just wondered why "car-part" didnt list it as a direct swap
